This litter is Amba's 2nd litter. The objective (as for the first litter) was to find a strong successor for Amba when she starts
getting older in a few years. It has to be encountered that the training for a good hunting dog needs a sensitive and empathetic
handler. The new bitch will be trained and prepared for her future duty with all the love and patience that I can give her as an
experienced handler.
The weekend before the litter arrived the puppy-box was built, (self-) Made in Germany - noblesse oblige! On Tuesday, the temperature
I had measured for days went down. The bitch seemed to be slightly restless, a typical symptom. Basically she entered pregnancy in a state
of perfect fitness. She knows that her human pack loves and cares about her. Amba inspects the new litter box and often wants to
get out for a little pee - only accompanied by course. Basically she gives a good impression of a healthy and pregnant bitch,
tubby and self-confident. No signs of problems nor complication. On Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the calculated date, it become
obvious that it will happen at this day. The bitch lost some fruit water in the evening and shortly afterwards around eight o'clock
the first puppy was born. Didn't had to worry about anything - Amba did everything by herself, as if she had never done anything else.
Within 90 minutes the first four puppies were born. After a pause of about 2 hours, the remaining 3 puppies were born and immediately
cared with all the love a mother can give. Beautiful, if everything would go easy like this, intact nature. I was allowed to lean back
to watch this miracle around me. Thank you, my best Amba. Final result: 4 males (3 brown, 1 brown-white roan) and 3 bitches, all brown.
Some have a small white mark on the breast.
Amba has milk and the puppies weigh more every day. Permanently she massages the small bellies to facilitate digestion
and to clean up the excretions, everything smells pleasantly and each can see how relaxed the little ones are. The lightest female puppy
had a birth weight of 250g and weighs 340g on the 4th day. She has grown faster than the others. Amba is lacking just nothing, she is
supported by all. The whole pack rests on Medbed carpets, which I can highly recommend to everyone for the purpose of dog keeping.
Thick pile, thanks to stable rubber coating on the back non-slip and washable up to 95°. For hunting I used a similar kind but not that
elaborated. I'm going to send the link for anyone who's interested, because I dislike advertising on my website. Every two days the medbed
is changed, which keeps the puppies hygienic, clean, dry and warm. The little ones are not so spectacular, just sweet. If the bitch goes
out for a short walk and then comes back again to lay down, there is already some sort of strong protest when a puppy is wiped with mother's
paw.
